Sustainability — Bali Family Holiday Curators’s Environmental & Community Commitments

Sustainability & Community Impact

Our Commitment: Preserving Bali for Generations to Come

At Bali Family Holiday Curators, we believe that luxury travel carries a profound responsibility. The very beauty and cultural richness that draw families to Bali depend on a thriving environment and a strong, supported local community. Our approach to sustainability is guided by the Balinese philosophy of Tri Hita Karana—maintaining harmony between people, nature, and the spiritual world. This is not just a policy; it is a core principle that informs every decision we make, from the partners we choose to the experiences we design.

Environmental Stewardship

We are committed to minimizing our environmental footprint and actively contributing to the conservation of Bali’s precious ecosystems.

  • Carbon Offsetting Program: We have partnered with Trees4Trees™, an Indonesian non-profit foundation, to offer our clients the ability to offset the carbon footprint of their flights and ground travel. For every trip booked, we also contribute to the planting of native trees in Indonesian community forests.
  • Reducing Single-Use Plastics: We have a strict policy against single-use plastic water bottles. All our vehicles are stocked with reusable bottles and filtered water dispensers. We work exclusively with hotels and villas that have robust and verifiable plastic reduction and waste management programs.
  • Marine Conservation: A portion of the proceeds from our marine-based activities is donated to the Coral Triangle Center in Sanur, supporting their work in marine conservation education and reef restoration in Indonesia, the global epicenter of marine biodiversity.

Community Empowerment

Our goal is to ensure that tourism provides direct, tangible, and positive benefits to the local communities we visit.

  • Local Employment and Sourcing: We are committed to a ‘local-first’ policy. Over 95% of our guides, drivers, and operational staff are Indonesian citizens. We prioritize sourcing supplies from local artisans, farmers, and family-owned businesses, ensuring that tourism revenue stays within the community.
  • Support for Education: We are proud partners of the Bali Children’s Foundation (Yayasan Anak-Anak Bali). A percentage of our annual profits is dedicated to funding educational scholarships for children in the remote villages of North Bali, providing a pathway out of poverty.
  • Cultural Preservation: We design our experiences to foster respect and appreciation for Balinese culture. We facilitate authentic interactions, such as visiting a family compound in a village like Penglipuran, where a portion of the fee goes directly to the village cooperative (banjar) to help maintain their unique cultural heritage.

Ethical and Responsible Operations

Our commitment to sustainability extends to our own business practices, as a proud member of the Juara Holding Group.

  • Ethical Animal Welfare: We do not support or offer any experiences that involve the exploitation of animals. We have a strict ‘no-contact’ policy with wildlife and only partner with legitimate conservation sanctuaries that prioritize animal welfare, such as the Bali Bird Sanctuary.
  • Transparency and Accountability: We believe in being transparent about our efforts and our impact. We regularly review and report on our sustainability goals and performance, a process overseen by our leadership team. For more on our commitment to transparency, please see our Editorial Standards.

Choosing to travel with us means you are not just a visitor; you are a partner in our mission to protect and nurture the island of Bali. It is a vital part of our role as responsible Bali family holiday curators.
